IIM Raipur successfully organized a two day “TEQIP-II Conclave” for academic and administrative heads of higher educational institutes on May 19th & 20th, 2014 at V.W.Canyon under the second phase of Technical Education Improvement Program (TEQIP), an initiative taken by The Ministry of Human Resources and Development (MHRD), Government of India. IIM Raipur has been entrusted with the responsibility to promote academic excellence and quality administration of technical institutions by the MHRD in five states namely Tripura, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Prof.B.S.Sahay, Director, IIM Raipur at this occasion spoke about the increasing demand of quality education amongst the heads of institutions and stressed upon the need of the higher educational institutions to earn a place for themselves in the world rankings. The objectives of the conclave were to highlight the importance of world class technical education and India’s status vis-a-vis same, to identify the gaps and lacunae in the present system, processes and infrastructure; and to evolve benchmarks for the delivery of education and resources management.

An elite class of dignitaries namely Prof.S.Dasgupta, Director, Technical Education, West Bengal, Mr.Himanshu Gupta, Director, Technical Education, Chhattisgarh, Prof.Sudarshan Tiwari, Director, NIT, Raipur had gathered to speak on improving quality of technical education. Eminent faculty members namely Prof. Saji Gopinath from IIM Kozhikode spoke about content identification for training for heads of the institutions, Prof. Punam Sehgal from IIM Lucknow explored the training needs for faculty development while Prof. Prashant Salwan from IIM Indore identified the training needs for administrative officials. Training sessions by learned faculty members of IIM Raipur – Prof.Vinita Sahay, Prof. Sanjeev Parashar and Prof.PRS Sarma benefitted the participants in understanding the training needs and in developing a strategic framework for the conduct of various capacity enhancement programs in Academic Leadership, Faculty Development and Program for Registrars & Administrative Officers.
The participants from reputed institutions across these five states included pro-Vice-Chancellors, Directors, Principals, Professors, Deans, Heads of various Departments, Registrars and Finance officers.
