TAPMI’s fourth edition of DISHA, its Annual HR Conclavewas held on August 31 and September 01, 2013 at its Manipal campus. Disha, which means Direction in Sanskrit, is centered on the critical corporate function of Human Resource Management. The theme of Disha 2013 was “Recreating the Human Element in Organizations”.
Mr. Raj Narayan, Senior Vice President, Human Resources of Titan Industries graced the occasion as Chief Guest and inaugurated the event. Dr. R.C Natarajan, Director, TAPMI delivered his address and welcomed the media, faculty and students. The official logo for Disha 2013 was formally introduced by Dr. (Col) PS James as he emphasized about humanism and how it can affect productivity. Dr. James explained the significance of the logo.
The chief guest Mr. Raj Narayan addressed and enlightened the gathering. He stressed upon recreation of human values and improving human connectivity in organisationsin these times of technology ruling our lives.
He emphasized on educating, enabling and empowering environment and the need for HR functionaries to focus on clear review system and reward mechanism. He concluded by saying that, “the answers depend on the questions we ask” and encouraged all to have great learning experience.
In the two day event, many senior executives from HR domain from leading companies participated in the event.The dignitaries were, Mr. MichealFernandes – Delivery Head (India), Practice Leader (Talent Management) and Director (Middle East & Africa) for People Business; Mr. Naresh Kumar Pinisetti – Director (People& Culture), Vestas Wind Technology- India; Mr. Rohit Kapoor – Director, Human Resources Department, Dassault Systems; Ms. Pallavi Gupte, Head HR, Dun and Bradstreet; Ms. Dola Mukherjee – Head of Human Resources, Syngene International; Mr. SidharathTuli, Head of HR, Larsen and Toubro Hydrocarbons; Mr. Bijender Vats, Associate Director – HR, Merck, Sharpe and Dohme (MSD); Mr. Marulasidda MC,Director-HR, Scania; Mr. PramodFernandes, Vice President-Group Human Resources, Manipal Technologies.
The two day event had various events like ONIMIA- Panel Discussion, EXPOSITUS- Case Presentation, VRONDI- mock press event, We the people- DEBATE and SOPHOS- Guest lectures on various topics like Modern HR policies, role and relevance of HR, Implementation and Planning, traits of HR Manager, etc. where the HR executives shared their experiences from their industry.
Disha 2013 concluded on a high note and the event was a grand success, in particular enriching the young minds pursuing management education at TAPMI.
