"Success is simply a matter of luck. Ask any failure"

In a society, we find both successful people and failures. However, it is not just luck that determines a person’s success. Hard work and determination are two key elements of success. If you ask a failure, he will conveniently blame his destiny on back luck.

A failure will not admit that he did not put in sufficient hard work in his task. This will reflect baldly upon him; hence, he will blame it on elements that are beyond his control. A failure is someone who gives up when challenges come his way.

William Edward Hickson, a British educational writer, once said, “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, and try again”. So, just because one is not successful in the first attempt does not mean that one should stop trying.

Successful people did not become famous overnight. They worked hard to reach their goals.
So, when failures blame their destiny on external factors such as luck, it shows that they are not determined to reach their goals.

There are some people who work hard but never seem to reach their goals. This shows that their approach is incorrect. For example, if a student prepares for his Mathematics exam by memorizing formulas instead of applying them to problems and solving them, he is bound to fail. In this case, he failed not because of lack of hard work but because of his incorrect approach.

So, a failure should not blame his destiny on bad luck. Instead, he should analyze how successful people have managed to reach their goals. He should compare his own strategies with theirs to see where he is going wrong.

Great scientists like Marie Curie, Thomas Edison and Albert Einstein did not become successful because of luck. They made many sacrifices to reach their goals. Hence, success is not simply a matter of luck. It is a fusion of hard work and determination.
