NASSCOM
MBA Aspirants positively think & dream to join some company but it is good to have understanding of specific industry and company or organisational professional body.

Read on about : NASSCOM

NASSCOM, an acronym for the National Association of Software and Service Companies, is a non-profit organisation that was established in 1988. It is a trade association of both the Information Technology (IT) sector and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector in India. NASSCOM’s headquarters is in New Delhi and it has regional offices in Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Kolkata.

Although NASSCOM is a trade association of Indian IT and BPO sectors in India, the membership is open to global companies too. In fact, NASSCOM has over 1,200 members, of which 250 members are global organisations from various parts of the world such as China, Japan, US, and Europe. Some of the members of NASSCOM include Accenture, Fujitsu, Adobe, Avaya, Axis Capital, Bain Capability Centre, Canon and Electronic Arts Games.

These member companies of NASSCOM belong to the categories of  software development, software products and services, BPO services and e-commerce.

The objectives of NASSCOM are to enhance trade in software and services, encourage and promote the advancement of research in IT, establish India as a hub for innovation, facilitate growth of India’s position as a safe place to do business, and provide a platform for its members and other stakeholders to interact and take the country’s IT level to a higher level.

Every year, NASSCOM organises the India Leadership Forum, which is aimed at understanding business and economic challenges and opportunities for the IT and BPO sectors.

Technology keeps changing at a rapid pace and to ensure that NASSCOM’s member companies are ahead of the international competition, they are required to constantly improve upon existing technologies and bring innovations closer to consumers.

So,through the India Leadership Forum, NASSCOM enlightens its member companies on the current business scenario and how they can collaborate to maintain their respective leadership positions.  NASSCOM believes that new leaders, also known as ‘Imagineers’, should not just predict the future, but transform it too.

Knowledge is the important resource for any organisation, and NASSCOM, through such forums, helps its member companies to contain the knowledge and manage it optimally for their benefit.

NASSCOM has a number of forums and special groups to address the concerns of various sub-sectors in the IT and BPO industries, and they are the Gaming Forum, Engineering Forum, Quality, Remote Infrastructure Management, and EMERGE, to name a few.

The Gaming Forum was launched six years back with the aim of providing a platform for companies in the gaming sub-sector to share best practices and technical expertise. Studies and research are conducted on the emerging market trends, and the outlook of the gaming sub-sector.

Through this research, member companies will be able to tap on the potential opportunities and steer their business strategies in the direction of corporate growth and success. The Engineering Forum, on the other hand, was established to enhance growth and innovation within the Indian engineering industry.

The future of the engineering services sector is indeed bright, as per the Global Engineering Research and Development reports. Studies show that there is a growing confidence among the global players in India’s supply base capabilities, which is why there is a lot of focus on this forum.

NASSCOM not only provides a platform for companies in the IT and BPO sectors to come together, but it ensures that these companies reap benefits and enhance their revenue streams through participation in various events and forums.
