Prof. Debapratim Purkayastha, Associate Dean at ICFAI Business School (IBS), Hyderabad, won the prestigious “Lifetime Achievement Award” for the outstanding contribution to the Case Method this year. ‘The Outstanding Contribution to the Case Method’ honor to Debapratim Purkayasta, shows how the ICFAI Business School has developed a tradition of Case teaching and case writing. Debapratim is also the youngest recipient of this award, and bears testimony to the rapid strides that ICFAI Business School had taken in Case-based teaching and learning in the last few decades. For the first time the award was bagged by a faculty member in India” says the Case Centre’s Director.

Debapratim Purkayastha is globally renowned as a Case Method expert and much sought after for speaking assignments and workshops in this area. He has conducted many workshops on Case Teaching and Case Writing in India and abroad.

The Case Centre’s annual Awards, now in their 25th year, celebrate excellence in case writing and teaching in business education worldwide and are now considered the case method community's annual 'Oscars'.

‘The Outstanding Contribution to the Case Method’ Award was constituted as a ‘lifetime achievement’ award, by The Case Centre in 2011. The Case Centre’s executive committee  selects the recipient of this award. The executive committee members unanimously praised Debraptim’s achievements and forward-thinking commitment to the case method.

Brief Bio Data of Prof. Debapratim:
Debapratim Purkayastha’s teaches Business Strategy at IBS Hyderabad, and is also the Consulting Editor of Case Folio, a refereed journal dedicated to case studies in management. He has over 14 years’ teaching, research and industry experience. He is an award-winning and best-selling author of case studies in Management, and the only author from outside North America and Europe to feature in the UK-based The Case Centre’s bestselling authors for the last 40 years.

Debapratim Purkayastha’s has won awards and recognition for case writing from the Academy of Management (AOM), Association of MBAs (UK), The Central and Eastern European Management Development Association (CEEMAN), European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), Emerald Group Publishing (UK), North American Case Research Association (NACRA), Oikos International (Switzerland), The Case Centre, John Molson School of Business (University of Concordia, Canada), AESE Business School (Portugal), etc. Many of his cases are published in global editions of textbooks.
