About IIM - A
IIM A was established by the efforts of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai and Shri Kasturbhai Lalbhai and their efforts were proactively supported by CM of Gujrat Dr. Jivraj Mehta. To keep these IIMs away from the bureaucracy, the governance of IIMs is having a different constitution which is not similar to those of traditional universities of India. IIM A is managed and run by a society created under the Societies Act of India and the society of having the Board of Governors chosen by IIM-A Society. IIM-A is thus known to be a Board Managed Institution which is completely free from control of Government and admissions are a completely fair practice intended to intake best quality of students.
IIMA has been ranked on top in India, consistently over the years which has made it among the finest management institutes across the globe. The institute was ranked 56th among the top 100 international B-Schools offering full-time MBA, by The Economist. The institutes became the first B-School of India to be awarded by EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) accreditation, in the year 2008.

Library @ IIM-A
Library at IIM-A is named after its founder - The Vikram Sarabhai Library which is an invaluable resource of knowledge and information for students, researchers and faculties of business and management. It is well stocked library with over 1,80,388 books, 42,004 bound volumes, current subscription to journals (print - 226 & online - 945), 30 news papers, 2323 working papers, and many other resources like 265 thesis, 1768 student's project reports, 2203 CDs and 132 videos. It is a 20,120 sq. ft place which is home to best of the management education and research information source and has a huge data base of e-journal, publications and books. Users are also provided with online access online library to access the resources from their own computer terminal.

IIMA's faculty members are distinguished by their sustained research contributions in various areas of management and strong practitioner-oriented teaching and consulting. How to get enrolled for (PGP)
Selection of students at IIM-A is two step process. First step is the short listing of the students on the basis personal interviews of those eligible candidates who have applied for the course and have a valid CAT/GMAT Score. The short listing process also considers a candidate’s prior academic record.
accepted in IIM-A is more than 99 Percentile and GMAT score
is for overseas student’s category and they should have score of at least 700.
Short listing Criterion for Personal Interviews:
70% weightage is given to the CAT/GMAT score and 30% weightage is given to the Application Rating Score

After the short listing of the students on the basis personal interviews in the first step, candidates are selected for PGP Programme at IIM-A, from those students who have attended personal interviews.
Selection Criterion for the final list of selected students for the new batch of PGP:
70% weightage is given to Personal Interview Score and 30% weightage is given to the CAT/GMAT Score. (Note: The Personal Interview Score is based on the following: performance in the personal interview, academic performance and achievements, extra-curricular activities and post-degree work experience.)

Student Exchange Programme
IIM-A also offer its students with student exchange programme as the institute is having tie-ups with more than 45 institutions in 26 countries across the globe. Student exchange helps the students to gain a global perspective of business and economic environment. Student’s Exchange Council looms after the exchange programme of the students where ¼ th of the students are selected and sent to spend a term at international destinations. And same number of students are invited from those colleges to come and complete their term here in India @ IIM-A.
