Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad is one the premier management institutes in India. It was the second IIM to be formed in 1961 under the aegis of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, Shri Kasturbhai Lalbhai and Dr. Jivraj Mehta. The Ford Foundation and Harvard Business School have also played crucial role in its foundation. Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP)
Duration: 2 years
Type: Full Time, Residential
Aim: To nurture students into competent and professional managers in various management disciplines
Details:
PGP in Management in IIMA is one of the toughest programmes in world to get admission into. There are 4 types of courses offered as part of this programme over the 2 years – foundational, tools and techniques oriented, functional and perspective-building courses. There are around 480 sessions with 24 credits for the core courses in the first year. This is followed by a SIP for 8-9 weeks. The elective courses are offered in the second year with 380-440 sessions with 19-22 credits. The PGP programme is continuously fine tuned and reviewed.
Post Graduate Programme in Food and Agri-Business Management (PGP-FABM)
Duration: 2 year
Type: Full Time, Residential
Aim: To nurture students into competent and professional managers in agriculture, food, agri-business and rural sectors.
Details
The first year focuses on basic concepts of management. The second year provides specialized electives which help build their understanding of the rural and agriculture sectors. Before the second year, students go in for a Rural Immersion Module (RIM) for 4 weeks and then the SIP for eight weeks. In 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2016, PGP-FABM has consistently been ranked as Number 1 by Eduniversal, Paris.
Post Graduate Programme in Management for Executives (PGPX)
Duration: 1year
Type: Full Time, Residential
Eligibility: 4 Years Work Experience
Aim: To help executives expedite and seek leadership roles in their career.

This is a one year programme started in 2006 and considers candidates with only GMAT score who have considerable amount of work experience. The average work experience so far has been 8.5 years. The programme has six-segments which are seamlessly integrated – Induction, Building Blocks, Preparing for Top Management, International Immersion, Electives and Capstone.
The programme is globally recognized and has been adding tremendous value to various organizations across the world at mid and senior levels.
Certificate Course in Business Management (Armed Forces Programme)
Duration: 6 Months
Type: Full Time
Aim: To bring forth managerial skills in Armed Force officers to help them rise in the corporate ladder
Details
It is a full time 6 month programme which is divided into 3 terms. The officers go through an array of subjects like Business Statistics & Research Methods, HRM, Microeconomics, Entrepreneurship, Corporate & Finance and Food & Agribusiness. This is an apt course which helps them transition into an alternate career path.
Executive Programme

Aim: To provide management education to working professionals and entrepreneurs

This course is imparted with a mix of the Brick & Mortar model and IOL platform. It is a hybrid of around 600 classroom sessions, online lectures and project work. Hughes Global Foundation helps offer online classes through a satellite technology. Self learning and peer to peer learning is also fostered with this programme. Students get the benefit of both – in house and guest/visiting faculty at IIMA.
Doctoral Programmes
Fellow Programme in Management (FPM)
Duration: 4-5 year
Type: Full Time, Research Oriented
Aim: To provide necessary skills to identify and research around complex and specialized areas of management

IIMA incubates the research skills by providing a highly interactive environment to its researchers. There are eleven areas of high levels of specialization – Business Policy, Economics, Finance & Accounting, Food & Agribusiness, Information Systems, and Innovation & Management in Education, Marketing Organization Behaviour, Human Resource Management, Product & Quantitative Methods and Public System Group. The course takes a little over 4 years with 2 years of rigorous course work. Each dissertation is an original contribution by IIMA graduates in the area of management and its related disciplines.
