Read profile of Arundhati Bhattacharya
In this world where domination of the fittest is prominent, survival is quite tough. History has proof of how women had been treated in the past. But with considerable developments in the society their standards have risen. However, there are some places where gender discrimination and empowerment are still active. Despite of which some highly inspiring women figures have come up to motivate women all around the world.
Arundhati was a scholar student. She always came first in class. After passing from St Xaviers, Bhattacharya completed B.A and M.A in English from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. She was later married to a professor of IIT, Khargapur.
Arundhati Bhattacharya, the first female CFO and Managing Director of the State Bank of India have been chosen for the prestigious designation through her life long career and experiences. Despite the hardships in a country like India, where it was quite irrational for women to work in an office, Arundhati proved that women stand equally just like men. After 35 years of dedicated service in India’s oldest and most prominent banks, she exhibited her talents to achieve this post today. She is also chosen in the Forbes list of most influential and powerful women for a reason.
The State Bank of India has been there for over 200 years now and that is why, the first time ever governance of a woman is so much worthwhile. Women have to face far more challenges than men, no matter how much we deny it, today it is a fact. She quoted about the challenges faced by women saying :
“Often, people wonder if she can give the time required at work, given also her responsibilities at home. So a woman has to prove her worth over and over again each time she’s given a new responsibility, especially when she is at junior to mid-level position.”
The hardships and challenges that men and women face today are equal among the eyes of the people. Judgment on the basis of gender is no more thought of when it comes to managing or organizing a company. This talented lady proved it and has given hopes to millions of women around the globe who need an inspiration to fight for their dreams. No doubt she is the female who proved the point regarding equality.
An inspiration comes from her lifelong experiences that educate both men and women to always treat the other as an equal at jobs and work places. Even if a woman is a homemaker, then too it is a responsibility that requires managing abilities. Learning from women in this contemporary world can teach us a lot.
