Who does not know Barkha Dutt – the famous Indian television journalist and a renowned columnist? 
 
Since childhood, people in India have been listening to success stories of many famous personalities, including that of Barkha Dutt’s. 
 
 
Born and brought up in New Delhi, India’s capital city, Barkha Dutt worked hard to climb the career ladder in the field of journalism. Barkha Dutt was born on 18th December 1971 to Shri S P Dutt, an official in Air India, and Prabha Dutt, a well-known journalist at the Hindustan Times.
 
The driving force behind Barkha Dutt’s desire to become a journalist was her mother. Her mother, a pioneer among female journalists in India, taught Barkha Dutt the survival tactics in this competitive field. 
 
Barkha Dutt completed her under graduation in English Literature from St Stephens College, Delhi, and move on to a Master’s degree in Mass Communication at the Jamia Millia Islamia Mass Communication Research Centre in Delhi. 
 
After completing her education in India, she studied further and obtained a Master’s degree in Journalism from Columbia University, New York. From young, Barkha Dutt was determined and passionate about journalism.

 She was aware of her strengths and her career path right from the start. So, upon graduation, she immediately joined NDTV as a news reporter. This is one lesson that we can learn from Barkha Dutt.
 
In order to succeed in life, one must be committed to his/her passion. Despite any challenge or obstacle that may come our way, we should not deter from our goals.
Upon embarking on a career with NDTV, Barkha Dutt exposed corruption, the truth behind wars, and the misuse of power by politicians. She gained immense appreciation and recognition for her report of the Kargil War.
 
Despite the danger associated with wars, Barkha Dutt reported the national incident from ground zero. In 2008, Barkha Dutt was awarded Padma Shri by the Indian government for her remarkable contribution in the field of journalism.
 
 In the same year, she also received the Indian News Broadcasting Award for the Most Intelligent News Show Host. Barkha Dutt is often referred to as the Oprah Winfrey of India because of her strong personality.
 
 
Barkha Dutt, who works as a group editor with NDTV, was not born with a silver spoon. She is just like any of us. What differentiate her from an ordinary woman are her commitment to succeed and her focus. 
 
Today’s youths can learn a lot from Barkha Dutt, who is an epitome of determination. Nothing, not even the Kargil War, stopped Barkha Dutt from achieving her dreams.
 
Life is not a bed of roses; to rise high in life, we all need to take risks and it is only those who are willing to sacrifice their comforts who ultimately stand out from the crowd.
