Placements off to a promising start at IFIM
The placement process for the final year PGDM students at IFIM Business School, Bangalore began last month. The batch of 140 students will graduate with industry exposure, through IFIM’s unique IIP (Industry Internship Program).
IFIM offers a 4.5 month long internship program that has been well accepted by the the Industry. All the leading companies have realized the value of such an innovative program that allows them to assess the skills and potential of the students before absorbing them. This year, 35 of the students have already converted their IIP into final placements.
FMCG, BFSI, Logistic, as well as a few E-Commerce companies  interviewed and offered positions to the class of 2014 of IFIM. The list of recruiters include L&T Finance, Britannia Industries Ltd., Blue Dart, Berger Paints, KPMG, Dell, Bosch, Indusind Bank and Orient Cements to name a few. A lot many leading companies are in the pipeline.
Over the last few years, the Dubai economy has improved drastically and has emerged as a good career destination for MBA graduates. Barakat Vegetables & Fruits Co LLC, a 700 million Dhirams company, that is among the largest Dubai based company dealing in fresh fruits and vegetables, offered the highest package at IFIM of Rs. 14.5 Lakhs p.a. The student has been absorbed into their HR Department.
With the advent of a more open economy, several MBA graduates are considering joining start-up organizations or establishing a business of their own. Although the placement process is yet to be completed, IFIM is expected to witness a number of students opting out of placements to start their entrepreneurial ventures.
“This year at IFIM, there are several start up and E-Commerce companies who will visit the school in the coming weeks. The general mood with our students is to become entrepreneurs in the long run and hence these companies offer the right platform for them to acquire the right skills to become successful entrepreneurs,” said Mr. S.R. Mohan, Director-Centre for Continuous Employability, IFIM B-School.
