Although Donna Karan is a fashion designer, her statement is not just applicable to the world of fashion; in fact, this statement is applicable to all aspects of our lives.
As human beings, we tend to focus too much on the past and the negative things in life and as such, we miss out on the positive things around us. In self improvement courses, trainers stress the importance of positive thinking and focus on changing self-criticism and negative thoughts to more realistic and positive thoughts. This is exactly what Donna Karan’s statement aims at doing.
We should understand that no one is perfect – we all have negative and positive qualities; however, we should try to either delete or reduce the negative qualities and bring out our positive qualities. During job interviews, everyone tries their best to accentuate the positive qualities; no one focuses on the negatives. This is exactly how we should lead our lives too.
