We all know that life is not a bed of roses – to gain success in life, we have to overcome obstacles and challenges that life throws upon us. Life itself is a challenge and to overcome difficulties, we have to be determined and focused on our goals. Along the way, we may make mistakes but the important thing in life is to learn from one’s mistakes and not repeat them.

Ronald E Osborn, a teacher, a writer, and the first moderator of the Christian Church, once said, “Undertake something that is difficult; it will do you good. Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow”. So, instead of shying away from challenges or difficulties in life, we ought to face them and learn the lessons that life intends to teach us.

In India, corruption is widespread and rampant. It is difficult to eradicate corruption in India but it is not impossible. In 2011, brave and determined individuals, including Anna Hazare and Arvind Kejriwal, came up with the Draft Jan Lokpal Bill, urging the government to set up an independent body in India to investigate cases of corruption. Even though their efforts did not bear fruit immediately, they did not give up. They fought for the clearance of the bill and finally in February 2014, the Delhi Cabinet cleared the Delhi Lokpal Bill 2014, today, India is one step closer to becoming a nation that is free of corruption.

Challenges are present in every field and society and we cannot run away from them. We have to face these challenges and learn invaluable lessons that life has to offer.

Only then will we be able to succeed in life. Instead of viewing challenges as obstacles in life, we ought to view them as opportunities to become stronger and more confident in life.
