In this fast emerging world, our lives are nothing but a race against time where, not once do we stop to analyze the effect it has on our bodies. For the first time in Bhubaneswar, XUB organised ‘X-athon’, an initiative aiming to inspire individuals to work towards a healthier self and contribute to a healthier society. Many people joined this initiative to express their support towards this noble cause. Every step that has been taken in this initiative was an attempt to add a smile to the vast multitude of underprivileged souls in our society.
The event witnessed a total participation of more than 700 people from dynamic backgrounds. The marathon started from XUB-XIMB campus to Patia Square and back through Omfed Square and NALCO Square. The entire amount collected through X-Athon was donated to the Smile Foundation. Mr Arun Mishra, Vice President Tata Steel, Gopalpur Project and Mr Manikant Nayak, Chief Resident Officer, Tata Steel, Bhubaneswar were the Chief Guests. The winner of the general category was Isaac Ngemui from Kenya. He completed the 10km marathon in a mere 30 mins 48 seconds. He was awarded a cash prize of Rs.25000.
