On September 30th, Professor Varsha Jain, Professor, Integrated Marketing Communications and the Chair, FPM (Doctoral Level Program), MICA won the prestigious “Woman Academic Leader Award” awarded by FMRT in higher education category at ASMITA - Women leadership conclave. The event was held at Teen Murti Auditorium, New Delhi, India. This is Prof. Jain’s 4th award in 2018. She had earlier received the “Prof. Indira Parikh, 50 women education Award”, “Education Leadership Award” and “Woman Leadership Award for Excellence in Education”.
FMRT is a management research and non-profit organization, framed to support and promote the authentic, quality research work in academia and industries. This leadership conclave is a representation of ‘ASMITA’ which is a profound expression of ‘pride’ that represents awareness about the independent, fearless, and unique existence of a woman in this universe. The award was presented by legendary actress, Padma Bushan Ms. Shabana Azmi who was also a keynote speaker for the event.
Professor Jain has been actively promoting the idea of women scholars in Academia. She believes if the circumstances related to work, family and social circle around women improve, these women can overcome any hurdle.
She has authored more than 100 publications in international, national and trade journals, book chapters and case study collections, including the ‘Journal of Product and Brand Management’, the ‘Journal of Marketing Communication’, ‘Healthy Marketing Quarterly’, the ‘International Journal of Mobile Marketing’, the ‘Journal of Consumer Marketing’, ‘Young Consumers’ and many more. She has also contributed case studies to the Marketing Management text book 15/e with renowned father of Marketing, Philip Kotler.
When asked the critical factor to scholar’s success in the face of stiff competition, Professor Jain said “Only passion, dedication and sincerity will make you a humble knowledgeable scholar and an all-time learner”.
