Ms. Sandhya Pathak, KSOM alumna, describes how the institute groomed her into a successful professional.
KIIT School of Management, Bhubaneswar has consistently produced management graduates who have gone on to become accomplished professionals in their chosen fields. The renowned institute does everything possible to groom well-rounded individuals, and Ms. Sandhya Pathak, student of the 2000 Batch, is a brilliant example of that. A seasoned professional in facilitation, coaching, content development, training design and delivery, she now works as Corporate Trainer and Communication Coach with Drishtikone Consulting. Here she talks about her journey with her B School and the career path it has led her on since graduation.
After graduating from the institute, Ms. Pathak has amassed over 13 years of experience in the industry. She was worked with well-known names and specializes in Business Communication, Presentation Skills, Customer Service, Negotiation, Interpersonal, Personal Effectiveness and Time Management Programs. Despite her impressive resume, she believes the roots of her industry-preparedness are entrenched in her KSOM days: “Our institute had an interesting way of giving us the latest knowledge in the world of management. We were quizzed on corporate dossiers and marketing articles of leading newspapers on a regular basis.”
According to Ms. Pathak, that helped students at the institute stay abreast with the latest products. Moreover, it gave her an understanding of marketing strategies and campaigns of different organizations. Their training was taken a step further by the experienced faculty team, which would make students give daily presentations. “I am so grateful to all the professors who made immense contributions to our personal and professional growth. The confidence and knowledge I gained from these presentations was huge. In fact, I draw on those experiences to a large extent in my day to day life as a professional as well,” she says proudly.
Ask her how exactly her training at KSOM came to her aid in her professional career and Ms. Pathak replies without batting an eyelid: “The training we gained, till date, helps me plan the business strategies, design marketing campaigns, and chart out a promotional plan for my workshops and training. The grooming and practical experience I had during my stint at KSOM encouraged me to take the plunge in my entrepreneurial journey as well. In fact, I would say that where I am today is because of my days well spent at the institute.” She concludes on an emotional note, as she reminds present day students to make the most of the opportunities KSOM presents to them.
