An MBA encourages and polishes communication skills, problem-solving, decision making, people management, strategic thinking, and risk-taking abilities in a person. The first step towards the dream MBA college is the process of filing its application form. It requires hundred percent attention and authenticity.

Purpose of MBA Application Form

The application form for an MBA institute is a detailed form where a candidate is expected to share personal, educational, and professional details, along with achievements and career goals.

Except for the IIMs (via CAT application form), all colleges have individual application forms and dedicated selection criteria and timelines.

When to Fill MBA Application Form

The process of MBA admissions starts with the release of exam notifications by individual exam conducting authorities. Around the same time, the colleges also publish a timeline for the admission procedure and specific selection criteria for all the available programmes. Certain colleges may conduct individual entrance exams as well.

Most exam notifications and college admission windows open during July, August, and September and end by November, December, and January. Some colleges may offer early-bird discounts for application forms. A college’s website is the best place to gather the latest and up to date information along with authentic study portals.

The best time to fill up the form is within the first two to four weeks of the start of the application window.

How to Fill MBA Application Form

Most MBA application forms are filled online nowadays. A handful of colleges may still give the option for an offline application form and offline payment. Applicants must register on the admission portal of the individual colleges they wish to apply for. A unique registration ID and password are generated which help students track their application status.

MBA application forms require proof for all stated achievements and academic and professional qualifications. It is necessary to keep scanned copies of the following documents before one starts to fill the application form:

  1. Passport size photograph as per given requirements

  3. Marksheets – Class X, XII, Graduation

  3. Academic Qualifications – School and Graduation Marks

Essential Things to Keep in Mind

  1. Candidates must shortlist the programmes and colleges based on career goals and areas of interest.
  2. Candidates must check the eligibility of the programmes and exams they wish to apply for.
  3. Candidates must keep track of the start and end of the registration and payment window.
  4. All information provided by the candidates must be correct.
  5. Candidates must have supporting documents with all achievements and degrees listed in the form.
  6. Candidates must invest proper time in filling up the application form. Any errors can jeopardize selection and admission.

A crisp and clear application form is a differentiating factor. Until a candidate is shortlisted for a face to face interview, the application form is a true reflection of oneself.
