Indian Institute of Management Rohtak hosted its 11th Convocation on 9th April 2022. Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana, Shri Manohar Lal was the Chief Guest for the ceremony. It was a great honour for the institute to have the gracious presence of such a visionary leader. IIM Rohtak is producing graduates with superior work-ethic, high commitment, and positive attitude. 249 students from the 11th batch of MBA Programme and 6 students from PhD Programme were convocating on this day.
Prof. Dheeraj Sharma, Director, IIM Rohtak in his report said that IIM Rohtak completed the final placement process for the graduating batch with 100% success again this year. The average salary for this year increased to 15.92 LPA (16% higher than previous year) and the highest salary increased to 32 LPA (40% higher than the previous year). He further added that IIM Rohtak will now be the largest IIM in terms of student strength with nearly 1600 students in various long duration programmes. It is a matter of pride for us that our faculty and research scholars continue to remain ahead in research output with a large number of papers being published in FT-50/A/A* international journals this year. One of the research works on the food grains supply network by faculty of IIM Rohtak has been recognized by the World Health Organization, he added.
The Gold Medal for Scholastic Performance was awarded to Ms. Snigdha Uppala whereas Ms. Anushka Dahiya was awarded Gold Medal for being all-rounder for the year.
While congratulating the graduating students and IIM Rohtak community, Hon’ble Chief Guest, Shri Manohar Lal motivated the fresh graduates to apply their management skills for the betterment of the organization they work with. At the same time, being the country's future, they must also apply their knowledge and management skills for the betterment of the society and country at large. As good managers, they must lead the society and the country in the right direction. He also applauded the efforts made by Prof. Dheeraj Sharma and the institution for their continuous work in the public policy domain where the institute has also contributed to several Govt. of Haryana initiatives. He further congratulated IIM Rohtak for its contribution towards the social campaign, Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao. He added that with a record percentage of nearly 71% of female students in the MBA programme of IIM Rohtak, it is a remarkable achievement for any institution globally.
The Chief Guest also laid the foundation stone for the Gurugram campus of IIM Rohtak virtually. IIM Rohtak is the only IIM in the NCR region and therefore Gurugram campus will be able to deliver to the growing need of more specialised and focused education in the NCR region. This campus is going to be a game changer for management education in the National Capital Region. The institute will offer several non-residential courses from this campus. A large number of training and development programs for corporations and government will also be conducted. Finally, IIM Rohtak is likely to run specific programs targeting entrepreneurs and family business owners. Overall, IIM Rohtak will aim at providing the opportunity of getting top-class management for individuals from all spectrum of life.
The Chairman BoG, IIM Rohtak applauded the efforts of Prof. Dheeraj Sharma and members of IIM Rohtak community for making the institute largest and the most sort after management institutions in the country. He added that the Gurugram campus has the potential of becoming the global epicentre of management education. The campus will be developed as the state of art campus in near future.
The institute has been a torchbearer in introducing many first of its kind courses like Five Year Integrated Programme in Law (IPL – BBA + LLB) which is first IIM in the country to offer an integrated program in law, first IIM to have PG Diploma in Sports Management, and first IIM to have Integrated Programme in Management (BBA+MBA) program.
IIM Rohtak does research and consulting projects for the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Tourism, India Post, among others every year. The institute is also doing training programmes in Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Strategic Digital Transformations, etc. for government officers, public institutions, and non-government corporations. The institute also conducted an oxygen audit for the state of Haryana during the peak of COVID pandemic in April-May 2021 to help provide insight for managing oxygen delivery and utilization. IIM Rohtak has also made extensive efforts in promoting gender and academic diversity.
