Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) successfully conducted the Summer Internship Segment (SIS) placements between February 22 and February 26, 2021. The 41st batch (2020-22) of IRMA’s flagship Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Rural Management), or the PGDM(RM), with 252 students, was placed in five days’ time through online campus interviews. The entire process took place in virtual mode.
The average stipend offered by the corporate sector organizations stands at INR 63,015 and that for the development sector organizations (NGOs, Cooperatives, and Government Development Agencies) stands at INR 41,526. The median stipend stands at INR 50000. The maximum stipend for the batch stands at INR 2 lakhs.
As an indication of the increased engagement of both business as well as development sector organizations, we received 391 internship offers from 113 recruiters for the batch. The number of new recruiters this year was 39.
Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (Amul), with 31 offers, was the largest recruiter. Verka (Punjab Milkfed), DudhSagar Dairy Cooperative (Mehsana) and Shreeja Mahila Milk Producer Company Limited were some of the recruiters from the Collectives and Cooperatives sector. The major development sector recruiters were Farmscape Support Networks Foundation, Madhya Pradesh Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Rurban Mission, and Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (India). Multinational/National Agribusiness and Rural Marketing corporations such as Texel Industries Ltd, ITC Agribusiness Division, Emami Ltd, Emami Agrotech, Godrej Agrovet, Burger King India Limited, Grow Indigo, Crompton, Ninjacart, Mapro Foods Pvt. Ltd, NBHC etc. also offered internships. From the FMCG and Retail sector, More Retail, Big Basket, Delightful Gourmet Pvt. Ltd. (Licious), among others, were the prominent recruiters. BFSI companies such as Sarvagram Fincare, Yes Bank, DBS India Limited, Pahal Financial Services Pvt. Ltd, Samunnati Financial Intermediation and Services Private Limited, and several other small finance banks also participated in the process. From the CSR and Social Business sector, we had organizations like Cummins, Vedanta Ltd, Srinivasan Service Trust (TVS Motor Company) Ltd, TCSRD and UNICEF coming in for recruitment. From the Consulting sector, Verghese Kurien Policy Lab (IRMA), Grant Thornton Bharat LLP, MicroSave Consulting, APCO Worldwide India Pvt Ltd were the major recruiters for this year’s summer internship segment.
