MICA INAGURATES INCUBATOR ON CAMPUS
MICA Incubator, India’s first ever communications technology based Incubator, has been moved to MICA’s campus at Shela with a grand inauguration ceremony presided over by Shri P L Sharma (Chief Town Planner - Government of Gujarat) on Friday. Started in 2010, the MICA incubator had earlier been set up at Parimal Gardens and had, over the years supported start-ups functioning in MICA’s domain areas.
“Incubation centers can help curb unemployment for the youth who are willing to settle with respective jobs in urban cities” said Shri P L Sharma. The move is expected to go a long way in providing easy accessibility to students and will connect the incubated start-ups with the Faculty, students and other staff at MICA thereby aiding the incubation center to develop, nurture, promote and successfully commercialize ventures. MICA Incubator in its new location will also encourage the students in MICA to mold their ideas which would now be given shape with easier access to the incubator.
The event began with a meeting between Shri P.L Sharma and the Dean Dr. Preeti Shroff and the Governing Council. This was followed by the tradition of tree plantation by the chief guest Shri P.L Sharma in the campus.
The inauguration of the Incubator, around noon, was followed by interactive session with the Governing Council Members and the Dean at the new Board Room.
“We are looking forward to our students and alumni getting more involved in the incubation activities. Incubators now have access to our faculty, library facilities and support systems.
This is the beginning of a new journey for MICA Incubator,” said Professor UT Rao, Chairperson, MICA Incubator
