Read GD Topic: Mistakes Are The Portals Of Discovery

Members : 6
Time : 25 minutes

A-Mistakes are the stepping stones on which man builds the foundation of his life. They are essential for the condition of humanity. If man were not to commit any mistakes, he would no longer be man – he would become God Himself. It is true that God made man in his own image, but images are inverted reflections. They are never perfect.

B-Mistakes are a necessary part of one’s life. Mistakes empower us by becoming the guiding lights in the ofdarkest times. They ensure that we keep trying in order to improve our lives for a better and brighter future. It is important, however, to keep in mind that one should not play foolhardy and keep committing the same mistakes repeatedly just for the sake of committing them because it is imperative to understand that we live only once – and a single lifetime is too short to commit all mistakes oneself and then try to improve upon them. Instead, we should try and endeavour to learn from the mistakes of others too – because in this way, we gain valuable experience which stays with us forever.

C-Leading a simple, safe life can sometimes prove to be quite risky. If we always tread the well-trodden path, if we always keep within our limits, if our ambitions are always restricted and constrained, we will not have lived a full, complete life. Sometimes, it is quite worthwhile to cross over to the other side, which might seem risky and not conventionally safe. In doing so, we discover ourselves and the beauty that life has to offer us. In making mistakes, we open up new vistas which lead us to our inner most being, which is perhaps not possible if we do not meet hurdles or obstacles.

D-The Nobel Prize-winning physicist Niels Bohr said, “An expert is a person who has made all the mistakes that can be made”. It has been proved that if we make mistakes, the lessons that we learn stay with us longer, because we are constantly challenged and forced to come to grips with the consequences of our mistakes. We learn to acknowledge and accept our short-comings and move towards over-coming them with sincere efforts and perseverance. We take responsibility for our actions in our own hands and we stop blaming others for the troubles that we find ourselves in.

E-One always aspires towards perfection. Making mistakes, learning from them and retaining the lessons learnt are the ways by which one can move towards perfection in all spheres – personal and professional. One should never be afraid of making mistakes, because they are the crucial elements which make our life meaningful and which make each day different from the days gone by and the days which are yet to arrive. Such is the importance of committing errors!
F-Analysing one’s mistakes is a good way to build self-confidence. If we ask ourselves some pertinent questions such as – how could we have avoided a pitfall? How can we avoid it in the future? How have we transformed ourselves after committing the error? How can we help others learn from our follies? Asking these questions, introspecting and investigating the deep recesses of our mind gives us strength to face hardships. But it is also necessary to remember that too much analysis leads to paralysis. Instead of wasting too much time on analysis, we must act, and act swiftly, in order to learn a fruitful lesson.

Conclusion:Hence, it can be gauged that mistakes are an important part of every individual’s life. The only people who do not have to face any challenges are the ones who lie peacefully in their graves, with no worries to preoccupy their minds with. To err is human, and to forgive is divine. But to err and learn from the mistakes, is indeed, an invaluable lesson, which can only be learnt first-hand.
