The IIFT MBA (IB) 2020-22 exam was successfully held on 1st December 2019 across 41 test cities in 86 centers in India. IIFT 2020 exam was conducted for the first time by National Testing Agency (NTA) as a computer-based exam. Until last year it was a paper-based exam. Overall 39,752 candidates registered for the IIFT 2020 exam.

There were a lot of surprises thrown at the students this year. The overall difficulty level was moderate to difficult. Read on to find out more details.

1. The IIFT 2020 exam was conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) for the very first time
2. It was conducted online for the first time. There was a network of 4000 Test Practice Centers to help students acclimatize to the computer-based exam.
3. There were no technical glitches reported at any of the 86 NTA IIFT 2020 exam city centers.
4. The IIFT 2020 exam pattern changed significantly.
5. There were FOUR sections instead of six in IIFT 2020 exam pattern.
6. The total number of questions were 110, the maximum marks were 300 and time duration was 120 minutes.
7. All questions in QA, VARC and LRDI sections were 3 marks each. There was a negative marking of -1 mark.
8. All questions in the GK section were 1.5 marks each. There was negative marking of -0.5 mark for every incorrect answer.
9. The overall difficulty of IIFT 2020 exam was high.
10. The IIFT 2020 cutoff is expected to fall since there were many surprises thrown around the exam pattern.

Ideal Time: 25 – 30 minutes

Good Attempts: 24 – 26

Accuracy: 85 %

Difficulty Level: Easy to Moderate

Sectional Breakup

• There were 4 RC passages with 4 questions in each.
• Two out of four passages were easy.
• There were questions on crossword, analogies, idioms, para-jumbles, and fill in the blanks under verbal ability.
• 8 out of 19 verbal ability questions were easy to medium.

Ideal Time: 35 – 40 minutes

Good Attempts: 11 – 13

Accuracy: 80 to 85%

Difficulty Level: Moderate to Difficult

Sectional Breakup

• QA was a challenging section this year
• 10 to 12 were easy to moderate and could be solved quickly.
• 6 to 7 questions were difficult and lengthy.

Ideal Time: 30 – 35 minutes

Good Attempts: 12 – 15

Accuracy: 85 to 90%

Difficulty Level: Moderate to Difficult

Sectional Breakup

• The LR questions were tougher as compared to DI set questions.
• The questions in the LR section were based on linear arrangements, blood relations, lift & timing, set theory and number series.
• The questions in DI were based on bar graphs, line graphs, pie charts, and tables.
• Questions on blood relations, machine input output, pie charts were moderate to difficult and could have been avoided.

Good Attempts: 8 to 10

Accuracy: 85 to 90%

Sectional Breakup

• Significant number of questions were based on financial and international events
• It was a balanced mix of static and current affairs.

Considering the overall changes in the IIFT 2020 exam pattern, marking scheme and exam mode, it is expected that the overall IIFT 2020 cutoff may fall. Ideal number of attempts to get a good percentile is 50 to 55 questions with 85% accuracy.
