IIM Ranchi is currently operating from a temporary campus situated at Suchana Bhawan on the 5th floor of Audrey House Campus in Meur’s Road, Ranchi. Their hostel is at a distance of 12.5 km from the campus, almost 30 to 45 minutes’ drive, which is sometimes not-so-convenient for the students. However, the students still have a great time and an overall amazing learning experience at the Institute. Furthermore, the plot for the new campus has already been acquired and NBCC has been given a contract to develop the new IIM Ranchi campus. It will be constructed on a massive 60 acre plot, located close to the City Centre and is expected to be ready for shifting by the year 2020.
The hostel rooms at IIM Ranchi are single occupancy rooms which are all pretty spacious and have been done up well too. All the rooms are Wi-Fi connected and a late night canteen operates at a nearby place, catering to all the students’ needs.
IIM Ranchi also gets access to a government sports complex called Khelgaon, where the students can make use of various sports facilities. It is located at 30 minutes distance from the institute and 5 minutes from the hostel.
Classrooms
There are 6 very well designed classrooms in the academic block of the campus. Each one of these classrooms is equipped with latest facilities. IIM Ranchi is a firm believer of technology usage for enhancing student learning. The technology helps students in gaining better understanding of the concepts. These classrooms also have latest sound systems, projectors, computers, OHP systems and various other audiovisual tools. There is Wi-Fi connectivity available all over the academic block. Each classroom houses ergonomically designed furniture, pleasant interiors, aesthetic lighting and climate control systems, all in an effort to make these ideal learning environments.
Library
Referred to as the “Athenaeum, The Learning Resource Centre”, this one is a state-of-the-art library that has an excellent collection of electronic as well as print books. Other than that, you can lay our hands on reports, e-journals, databases, books, DVDs, CDs and more. This library plays a very significant role in providing the right type of information services to the students. These services can be availed both on the network as well as in-house. Needless to say that the electronic resources are accessible from anywhere on the institute’s network.
IT
When everything at the institute is kept world-class, how could the IT infrastructure be left behind?! There are state-of-the-art IT tools available at the campus, to meet the communication and computing needs of the students and faculty. The campus is equipped with the latest hardware and software, making sure that the students receive the best possible resources to advance their learning.
About its hostel facilities
Student block
IIM Ranchi student block got shifted to Khelgaon’s residential block some time ago. It’s situated on the outskirts of Ranchi, in an area that has plenty of greenery and calmness, taking you away from the hustle-bustle of city life. The weather is pleasant, calm and cool. The housing facility provided by IIM Ranchi is as good as the best universities of the world. There are separate blocks for the boys and girls. The housing has a nice mix of 4 bedroom and 3 bedroom shared flats which are equipped with 5-star facilities, are well-serviced and fully furnished. Every block comprises of a canteen and a mess that are open for around 20 hours per day. There is a common announcement system on every floor of the block as well.
Flats
There are 4 or 3 bedroom flats, each one having a kitchenette and a common room as well. The rooms of these flats are single occupancy and each one has an intercom, voice port, data ports for the Internet, campus LAN and telephone. Students can avail housekeeping services too.
Common room
It’s a room where students normally conduct informal meetings and are able to relax and socialise with others. In many ways, it’s a place where you get to witness hidden talents of many students. Apart from that there is a conference room for any informal meeting, a fitness centre, a well-equipped music room and a couple of indoor game rooms.
Security
IIM Ranchi gives highest priority to the security of its students. Backed by the Jharkhand Government, the institute is well guarded by VIP security systems all over the campus and hostel area. The student block has a common entrance, manned by 4 armed guards; no one is allowed entry without furnishing proper credentials. Every block is looked after by at least two guards, round the clock.
