MICA LOSES A MUCH LOVED PROFESSOR TO COVID

MICA lost its much loved and young faculty, Prof. Jay Trivedi, aged 41, to Coronavirus on May 7, 2021.

An Associate Professor and Area Leader in the Digital Platform and Strategies domain, Jay had over a decade-long corporate experience with leading Media companies like HT Media Ltd, Radio One Ltd and The Indian Express. He held a PhD from Gujarat University and an MBA in Marketing from Saurashtra University and had published extensively in various Scopus indexed and ABDC listed journals. Besides this, Jay was an IAMAI and Google certified digital marketing professional.

A very friendly and cool person by nature, Jay was a very popular teacher among the students besides being a mentor and guide to many scholars pursuing their Fellowship at MICA. His colleagues at MICA and other organisations he served at remember him as a very humble and down-to-earth person.

Recalls Prof. Falguni Vasavada Oza, senior faculty at MICA, “Jay was my dear student while pursuing an MBA at Rajkot and later became my colleague at MICA. From University to Media to Ad Sales to Ph.D., his journey into academics was so inspiring. At MICA, our offices were next to each other, and even after becoming my colleague, he never forgot that I was once his teacher.”

Prof. Shailendra Raj Mehta, the President and Director at MICA remembers him as an outstanding teacher, researcher and colleague, who had published in the top Management Journals in the world, and was well on the way to making a name for himself in the Global Academic Community.

Jay ironically tested positive just before getting himself vaccinated as part of the vaccination drive at the MICA campus and had conveyed, “Sad part is missed the vaccination by one day”. Jay is survived by his wife Shilpa Vyas Trivedi, incidentally his former classmate at Saurashtra University.
