“Team Phantom” comprising of first year students Krishna Rao, Pranjali Morchhale and Rohit Ramesh of MICA Ahmedabad’s PGDM-C course, emerged as the Grand Finale Winners of HUL Carpe Diem Season 5. The competition involves proposing case solution to a live marketing problem. It is a unique opportunity for bright minds from India’s premier and select B-schools to work with Hindustan Unilever Limited on a live project and also get a chance to do the summers under the prestigious Unilever Leaders Internship Programme (ULIP).
The competition received around 400 team registrations out of which 14 teams were selected for the final round. These included teams from IIFT, NMIMS, MDI, SIBM and XIMB.
In the preliminary round, the students were given a case study problem where they were required to come up with innovative solutions that could be applied in a present context. After the preliminary round, two teams from MICA were shortlisted for the Grand Finale which took place in Mumbai.
On the first day, the students got the opportunity to interact with the leaders of HUL wherein they gained valuable insights about the exercise of building a successful brand. On the following day, the teams gave presentations in front of the eminent jury which was followed by a general feedback. The judges also gave them insights of how to approach and solve such case study problems.
When asked the critical factor to their success in the face of stiff competition, the MICAn Team said, “We believe that our out of the box approach and our strong intent to provide a feasible solution helped us win the competition.”
