IIM Sirmaur Courses – The Programme/s Currently Offered by the Institute

Indian Institute of Management, Sirmaur or IIM Sirmaur was established in the year 2015, and is the 19th prestigious IIM to be opened in India. It has been mentored by IIM Lucknow all along, and currently offers a Postgraduate Programme in Management (PGPM) to the interested candidates. The 2 year long course is the same as the flagship offering of the IIMs everywhere, involving the same kind of rigour as is the case with other IIMs.

Ever since its establishment, IIM Sirmaur has striven hard to deliver top-notch management education, research and training to the interested students. There is plenty of focus on innovative practices and indigenous areas, with the idea of developing sensitive entrepreneurs and corporate leaders of the future.

About IIM Sirmaur’s Postgraduate Programme in Management

The Postgraduate Programme in Management is a full-time residential program of 2 years’ duration. The first year of the program is divided into three terms, comprising of core courses which focus on the basics of management, with respect to different functional areas. The first year courses are mandatory for everyone. All students successfully completing the first year coursework, undergo a summer internship, wherein they are required to work on an industrial project with some organization for at least 8 to 10 weeks’ time period. Please note, this summer placement constitutes an integral part of the postgraduate program. IIM Sirmaur has an efficient placement office that helps students in landing appropriate summer assignments. Apart from that students are also required to undergo a 3 to 4 weeks’ long mandatory International Immersion Program organized by the Institute, to help students widen their horizons and learn more about the business practices and cultures of other nations.

The second year of the IIM Sirmaur’s Postgraduate Programme is spread over another 3 terms (Term IV to Term VI). The students of the second year are free to select from elective courses in the different functional areas like economics, finance and marketing. It is entirely up to the students to pick the elective courses based on their own personal preferences, provided that they fulfil the program’s minimum credit requirements. All participants successfully completing the program are awarded their ‘MBA degree’ in the end. Below provided are the second year curriculum details.
