MICA’s annual marketing fest, MICANVAS, to be held from 17th to 19th November 2017, had an enthralling start with the Keynote speech from Navika Kumar – Managing Editor, Times Now, who delivered a talk on ‘Creating the Editor Brand’. She spoke about how an editor must always be a reporter at heart and how a one-way ticket to Ahmedabad got her, her first political story. She talked about her journey from a reporter to an editor, Ms. Navika further emphasized on the need for passion for one’s work and the risk-taking ability an individual must possess to reach a successful position in life. She said, “In life, never be scared of experiments, because you do not know where they will take you”. The three-day fest will see a plethora of events from panel discussions by industry stalwarts, competitions, lectures, workshops, informal events and concerts. Participants from B-Schools all over India arrived on campus today.
Day 1 started with GAMBIT- A case study competition that will test the participants strategic mettle on a live case problem from the sports domain, in collaboration with the Sports Marketing Club at MICA. The first round of the event was an eliminator and it started with 240 teams from various B-schools. For the next round the Top 6 shortlisted teams were invited to the campus to present their ideas and solutions to the case study provided by TransStadia. The teams included 3 teams from MICA and the other three teams are from SIBM Pune, SCMHRD Pune and SIMSR Mumbai.
The judges for GAMBIT were Mr. Hiren Pandit (COO - TransStadia and former Managing Partner, GroupM) and Mr. Sachin Sharma, an alumnus of MICA and heads Marketing at TransStadia.
The next two days will play host to imminent industry panelists, participants from various B Schools for various interesting competitions including Radio Jockey contests, brand marketing events, start-up related competitions, musical extravaganzas etc., ending in a performance by renowned artist Farhan Akhtar.
