Since post MBA entrance exams, most of IIMs and Top MBA Institutes are conducting WAT ( Written Ability Test ) to check language skills which can't be developed overnight hence, practice matters a lot.
Please read following topic on WAT and develop your own skills : It is always the simple that produces the marvellous
The simple act of an apple falling from a tree, lead Sir Isaac Newton to come up with his brilliant theory of gravity. A Harvard undergraduate came up with a website, called Facemash, to rate the attractiveness of people, and turned it into a $250 billion company called Facebook. All it takes is a simple idea.
Greek philosopher Plato believed that everything on this planet first exists as an idea, which later manifests into reality. By extension, everything that is beautiful in this world first exists as a simple idea. It is this simplicity that is the foundation of all great things in life. For instance, if you want to grow a tree that gives shade and fruits, first you need to learn the simple act of planting a seed and nurturing it.
Simplicity leads to lucidity. The brain understands simple things very easily. Even for the most complex things, the brain will try to break it down into simpler components for it to process and absorb. There is no point in cluttering your mind by adding complexity to your life. Football, for instance, called the ‘beautiful’ game is so because it is easy to understand and execute and does not involve too much complications.
Simple is beautiful because it is undisturbed by complications. It is this quest for keeping it simple that is behind the phenomenal growth of the most valuable company on planet, Apple Inc. For a company that started in a garage, the underlying philosophy of all of Apple’s marvellous products from the first computer made by Apple, the Apple I with its simple design to the latest offering, is keeping things simple and easy to use for the customers. This fact is present even in the way it has branded the products giving it one name, like the IPhone, thereby minimising the decision making process for the consumers. Steve Jobs believes that “it takes a lot of hard work to make something simple, to truly understand the underlying challenges and come up with elegant solutions.” It is a fact that complications confuse everybody.
Advertising and marketing, too, are based on the principle of simplicity. The branding, packaging, promotion of any product is designed in a way that it appeals to all kinds of people and for this they must keep things simple. Apple, for instance, came up with its first marketing brochure proclaiming in 1977, “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” UNICEF’s simple idea of asking people to donate
$1 tacked onto a restaurant bill (the Tap Project) to help UNICEF provide a child with drinking water for 40 days, has raised more than $ 2.5 million since its launch in 2007.
It is the charm and effectiveness of the simple that is driving the startup industry in India. People, who are into startups begin with a simple but effective idea on which they build the companies which are going to be the future of the country and the world.
Truly great things are created out of the simple. With persistence and hard work, the simple can be turned into the marvellous.
