• Candidates appearing in the final year of their Bachelor’s degree or equivalent are also eligible, provided they furnish the proof of having met the minimum eligibility criteria by September 20, 2019, failing which the candidates may be asked to withdraw from the programme.

Candidates who have appeared for the CAT 2018 examination or furnished valid GMAT/XAT score and have applied to IMI Kolkata will be short listed on the basis of information provided in the application form, CAT scores (sectional and overall) or GMAT/XAT score, educational background, marks in Class X and XII, graduation and work experience.

It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to the website of International Management Institute, Kolkata which is one of the three Chapters of IMIs, the India’s first corporate- sponsored Business School. The information presented here is only a part of our continuing effort to serve various stakeholders such as students, staff, alumni, and our constituents in the business community.

The founders of IMI have built IMI Kolkata Chapter with a sense of clarity and purpose, which has been translated into a clear objective. This objective has been to promote IMI Kolkata as an institute which provides significant opportunities to learn, grow and most importantly, develop and hone multiple skills across various disciplines of management. At IMI Kolkata, we innovate and encourage our students to achieve.

PGDM Program

IMI Kolkata offers a two-year, full-time PGDM (Post-Graduate Diploma in Management) programme, which is designed to prepare students for careers in corporate across all functional areas. The programme inculcates a strong sense of business fundamentals along with ethical values.

Program Objective

The two-year PGDM programme of IMI Kolkata equips students with strong conceptual skills to manage business in an integrated manner. The emphasis is on developing a holistic manager with a vision to take on the challenges for the future. Some of the key goals are:

  • Sharpening the analytical and problem solving skills using managerial tools.
  • Imparting knowledge in functional areas of management with an objective of preparing students for cross-functional positions in industry.
  • Developing the student’s personality with strong values and a positive attitude, so that s/he is receptive to societal concerns and committed to ethical conduct.

Programme Duration

IMI Kolkata follows the trimester system with the academic calendar beginning in June and each trimester is of 11-12 weeks duration. At the end of the first three trimesters of the programme, all students are required to undergo compulsory summer internship for 8-10 weeks in industry.

Admission process

  • Candidates who have appeared for the CAT 2018 examination or furnished valid GMAT/XAT score and have applied to IMI Kolkata will be short listed on the basis of information provided in the application form, CAT scores (sectional and overall) or GMAT/XAT score, educational background, marks in Class X and XII, graduation and work experience.
  • Students will be informed on the shortlist decision through email to their registered email id.

Selection Process

IMI Kolkata will conduct the WAT-PI process for shortlisted candidates for its final selection process.

  1. Written Ability Test (WAT):

IMI Kolkata conducts WAT to evaluate written capabilities of prospective students. WAT aims to evaluate Articulation and Technical (Grammar and Spellings) of the applicant.

  1. Personal Interview:

After the WAT, the candidate will have a personal interview of approximately 15 minutes, IMI Kolkata’s objective for conducting personal interview is to understand the applicant’s attitude towards management education. Candidates With work experience will be additionally evaluated on the relevance of their work experience in relation to the PGDM programme.

Final Selection

Final selection of the candidate will be based on CAT/XAT/GMAT (Overall Percentile) + Verbal Ability Percentile + academic profile + work experience + WAT Score + PI Score.

Fellowship Programme in Management (FPM)

The full time Fellowship Programme in Management (FPM) at IMI Kolkata has been designed to cater to the scholarly needs of the faculty members, researchers and executives willing to pursue rigorous research work at doctoral level on a full time basis. The FPM programme is aimed at giving prospective scholars an academic space to challenge the conventional wisdom and encourage them to extend horizons of current thought into a new realm of knowledge and understanding. The FPM research scholars of IMI Kolkata are expected to undertake a rigorous multidisciplinary approach to offer original works of theoretical and application oriented research with far reaching implications.

Program Objective

  • Promote contemporary academic research
  • Develop the prospect of new age management education in India with pertinent theoretical insights
  • Train, motivate and empower prospective scholars to become highly skilled and innovative researchers and facilitators

 

Programme duration

The programme is of four years' duration. However, this is extendable maximum up to 1 year in exceptional cases, subject to the consideration and approval by the IMI Kolkata research council. It consists of two phases. The first phase of the programme involves course work for two years followed by a comprehensive examination (CE). The CE based on research scholar's chosen area of interest will be taken after completion of the course work. The CE serves as a gateway to the dissertation as the means to ensure that research scholars have the background knowledge to do a doctoral dissertation.

The second phase requires scholars to work on their thesis. This involves the preparation of thesis proposal, pursuing research on this proposal and finally an examination based on the thesis leading to FPM.

 

Eligibilty

A Post-graduate degree or its equivalent in any discipline with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks

OR

A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent grade point average and a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience

OR

Any professional qualifications such as CA, ICWA and CS with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks In addition, all the candidates must have secured a minimum of 55% marks in all of their public examinations starting with the secondary level. Work experience in industry or academics may be given due credit in the selection process.
